Young Adults Sabbath School

The Pittsburgh area is blessed with a myriad of institutions of higher education, colleges and universities. Thanks to them, the young Adventist community in Pittsburgh is ever growing… while yes, many of the students move to greener pastures after their studies here, there are a few brave young people who graduate and choose to remain in the city, and even more who move here for work. These individuals play a key role in ensuring that the Young Adult Sabbath School class is active all year round. Outside of our Sabbath School lesson study time on Sabbath morning, we organize potlucks and various social activities where we invite friends and family.

As one of the few Seventh-day Adventist churches in the city, and perhaps because we bear the name of the city, many an Adventist tourist to the city find their way to our church and it is always a great delight to study the Word with fellow believers from all over the world. Whether in the classroom, in the work place, in our very homes, or as we engage in our various daily duties, “many are the ways in which God is seeking to make Himself known to us and bring us into communion with Him.” (Steps to Christ, p.85).

Our Young Adults Sabbath School class seeks to provide a safe and welcoming environment where people of all ages are welcome to come and grow in their spiritual walk. Our Bible study time is a powerful experience where hearts are moved, minds are challenged, questions are answered, and young people are encouraged to take a more active role in the affairs of the church. We realize that these final days of earth’s history call for us to be a people of the Word who have need of strong meat, and not of milk. When concluding his second epistle, the apostle Peter admonished us all to “grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” (2 Pet 3:18). And this is precisely what we are striving to do as a class, moment by moment, day by day, week by week, until our Lord returns.

Sabbath school begins at 10:00am, and runs until 11:00am. Please join us as we study the Word of God together, precept upon precept and line upon line, here a little, and there a little.

Furthermore, young people from the Adventist churches in the area get together in one of our homes for weekly vespers meetings on Friday night. Physical food is provided right before the spiritual food. The venue and times may vary from week to week so please contact Rehm VP - Adventist Student Living for Christ (ASLC) for specific places and times. This meeting time is designed to be evangelistic in nature so be sure to bring friends along.

We believe that “there is nothing more calculated to strengthen the intellect than the study of the Scriptures. No other book is so potent to elevate the thoughts, to give vigor to the faculties, as the broad, ennobling truths of the Bible.” (Steps to Christ, p. 90).

We look forward to having you in our Sabbath School class, and also at our Friday night vespers meeting. Until then, may the Lord richly bless you and keep you. In Christ, The Young Adults Sabbath School class.
